Municipal Wastewater System Use Ordinance Public Meetings – July 14 and July 28 at 7:00 PM On Monday, July 14 and Monday, July 28, 2008 at 7:00 pm in the Ground Level Conference Room of the Hinesburg Town Hall the Hinesburg Selectboard will discuss a revision of the Municipal Wastewater System Use Ordinance, with possible adoption of the ordinance at the conclusion of the July 28 discussion. The ordinance was last revised in 1993, and the proposed revision will, among other things, bring the ordinance into compliance with current operational practices, clarify procedures for private wastewater pump stations that will help to eliminate stormwater infiltration into the system and outline procedures for new connections to the system. As outlined in Vermont State Statute, if the Selectboard proceeds with adoption of the revised ordinance on July 28, the ordinance will become effective on September 28, 2008 (Sixty days after adoption) unless a petition on the question of disapproving the ordinance, signed by 5% of the qualified voters of the Town, is presented to the Selectboard on or before September 10, 2008 (Forty-four days after adoption). These meetings are open to the public, and community members are encouraged to provide input on the revised ordinance.
