January 25, 2010
Attending the meeting; Jon Trefry, Andrea Morgante, Ken Brown, Howard Russell, Randy Volk, Jeanne Wilson, Al Barber
Meeting called to order at 7:10 p.m.
Fire Chief Al Barber was present during the public comment period to update the Board on two items. First, he wanted to make the Board aware that any new owner of the Saputo building would be required to install a sprinkler system in the building. Secondly, he advised the Board that the Hinesburg Firemen’s Association has been contacted regarding the antenna on Mt. Pritchard in the town of St. George. The antenna (used for the Fire Department and Police Department) has been in place on a tower located there since 1992. The current owner of the tower, American Tower, petitioned St. George with a request to add additional antennae to the tower, which opened an Act 250 review. The process has led to a request by American Tower for lease agreements and payments for the current antennae. The cost could be $200 a month for Fire and Police combined. Al will investigate a 10-year lease agreement, and will keep the Board informed of progress.
Sign Warning for March 1, 2010 Town Meeting: The warning was finalized and reviewed by the Board. Andrea moved that the Board vote to sign the warning as prepared for the March 1, 2010 Town Meeting. Seconded by Howard and approved.
Other Board Member Items:
Andrea suggested that the Selectboard have a meeting with the chairs of all the boards / commissions / committees. Randy asked what the focus of the meeting would be. There was a discussion about communication and facilitation between the various boards / commissions / committees, to assure coordination of activities and discussion of issues of mutual concern. A meeting of all chairs would allow discussion of possible agenda and format for an all board meeting. A quarterly email report, similar to the Friday Report, with submissions by these volunteer committees was suggested. Jeanne will work to schedule such a meeting for an upcoming Selectboard meeting.
Jeanne advised that the Highway Garage had experienced a power surge over the weekend, which damaged several pieces of equipment. An electrician had been called in, and Jeanne will contact VLCT, the Town’s property & liability insurance carrier, and it was suggested that the power company be contacted.
Howard moved the Board adjourn at 7:40 pm, second by Andrea and approved.
