Alarm Ordinance
The Hinesburg Select Board voted to adopt an Alarm Ordinance at their meeting on September 4, 2019. The purpose of this ordinance is to reduce the overall number of false alarms in the Town of Hinesburg. It also includes additional language that we are now including in all of our ordinances as we adopt and/pr amend them. If a petition has not been filed within forty-four (44) days of the September 4, 2019 adoption this ordinance will be effective as of November 3, 2019.

If a petition has not been filed within forty-four (44) days of the September 4, 2019 adoption, per 24 V.S.A §1973, this ordinance will become effective as of November 3, 2019. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Town Administrator. The revised version is linked below.

Traffic Ordinance Amendment
The Hinesburg Select Board voted to adopt an amended traffic ordinance to include the establishment of stop signs and other traffic control devices at their meeting on September 4, 2019. This amended ordinance replaces the previous version that was originally adopted on August 15, 1988. The purpose of this ordinance is to update and clarify language of the originally adopted ordinance, and to provide for changes to signs, roadways, and updates resulting from development. It also includes additional language that we are now including in all of our ordinances as we adopt and/or amend them.

Town Health Officer - Open Position
The Town of Hinesburg has an immediate opening for the position of Town Health Officer. The duties are defined in State Statute for this role. By law, each Vermont town has a Town Health Officer and a local Board of Health (comprised of the Select Board and the Town Health Officer).

Traffic Ordinance Ammendment – for the Town of Hinesburg
Establishment of Speed and Speed Limits

At their October 29, 2018 meeting the Select Board adopted an ammendment to the traffic ordinance for speed limits within the town of Hinesburg. This ordinance becomes law 60 days after it was adopted unless a petition is filed. Hannaford Application Information
Hannafordís most recent applications to the Development Review Board (DRB) were received on January 28, 2018. DRB public hearings were held on April 17, May 15, June 5, August 7, and September 4. VT Alert System for Hinesburg - Sign Up Info
The Select Board has adopted the VT-Alert system as the official notification system for the Town of Hinesburg. We will be using this system to send out emergency notifications via phone, text, and email regarding road closures, water main breaks or shut-offs as well as many other issues that could impact our residents and business owners.
