Opportunity to Represent Hinesburg – Regional Planning Commission
The Select Board is in the process of making appointments to represent Hinesburg on various committees of the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC). The CCRPC plans for healthy, vibrant communities, economic development, and efficient transportation of people and goods while improving the region’s livability. It is one of 11 regional planning commissions in Vermont. It was founded in 1966 to promote the mutual cooperation of its 19 member municipalities and to facilitate the appropriate development and preservation of the physical and human resources in Chittenden County.

If you're interested in serving on any of the CCRPC committees listed below, please contact Renae Marshall, Interim Town Administrator, rmarshall@hinesburg.org, 482-2281 x222. The Select Board hopes to make appointments at their July 6 meeting.

For more information about what these committees do, or the CCRPC itself, see their website at http://www.ccrpcvt.org or contact Alex Weinhagen . As Hinesburg's Town Planner, Alex serves on a CCRPC committee, and is happy to give you some perspective about what regional planning actually does.

  • Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC)
  • Oversees CCRPC transportation activities and policy development including input on the allocation of federal transportation funding priorities. Meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 9am.
  • Clean Water Advisory Committee (CWAC) -
  • Oversees CCRPC activities and policy development on Lake Champlain clean up efforts and related plans and programs including stormwater control and treatment. Meets on as needed basis - typically the first Tuesday of the month at 11am.

The Planning Commission (PC) has recently completed an extensive review of the Town Plan and has forwarded it to the Select Board for review and public comment.

This is a complete rewrite of the plan based on nearly three years of work, including multiple public surveys, a series of four community forums with invited speakers on key topics, countless PC meetings, and a formal public hearing.

Next Steps ›› Select Board review and possible revisions followed by two public hearings prior to adoption. Public hearing dates will be posted once scheduled.
